From Hotyce’s easy to grasp verses, to Emmeno’s melodic instrumental to Ceeza’s tuneful chorus, ‘Alhaji’ has almost everything on point. I’m surprised that all three guys on the track are relatively new. Here’s a couple of quick ones to share on the song though.
First, the hook introduces the first rap verse and the song in general achieve sweet smoothness. The same, smooth catchy lines close the second verse. Such arrangement deserves kudos because you find many people overuse and misposition bridges and hooks these days just so their songs can stick.
Secondly, Hotyce’s verses, despite have the tendency to give the likes of Ice Prince a run for their money, are rather too short. This conscious decision to be brief would have made sense if Hotyce’s verses contained bar-by-bar quotable quotes. The opposite is the case.
In all, ‘Alhaji’ is a very good dancable song that could go places if give the right push.
