It’s interesting that Shaydee keeps churning out singles after singles even though there are no signs of him dropping any album this year. Both ‘Carry Big Load’ and ‘I like it’ released in the October got averagely positive reviews here. He’s out with a remix to ‘High’ which dropped earlier in the year.
My guess at first was that ‘High’ remix would be an improvement on his most recent singles. The remix features the Kukere crooner, Iyanya and A Pass, a Ugandan dancehall singer. It reflects a marked difference from the original song as the two guests handle a verse each while Shaydee merely render the bridge and chorus.
Iyanya doesn’t give a good account of himself with his rendition which for me is dry, considering the beauty Shaydee put on the original. If you listen carefully, he nearly got off key at a point. The Ugandan however uses the second verse to remedy Iyanya’s mediocrity with a very cool Reggae flow. Compared to the original, this remix isn’t really a good idea. It probably could have come with good rationale on the part of Shaydee and his label but I think those who appreciate the original song would find this one unnecessary.
